Internet Explorer - Slow Page Display

  • Is your Internet experience slowing down?
  • Maybe you need to clear out your browser's temporary Internet files or "cache"?

The following are directions on clearing out Internet Explorer 6.0 (IE) temporary files.

First, select "tools" off IE's main menu. Next, select "Internet Options" off the tools menu. Below is an image of the drop down tools menu with "Internet Options" selected.

Selecting "Internet Options" will cause a dialog of the same name to be display. Below is an image of the "Internet Options" dialog.

.

The "General" tab of the options dialog should be showing. If not, please select it.
Notice the middle section of the General tab. Your will see the "Temporary Internet files" section. Notice the "Delete files" button. Clicking on this button will delete all the temporary files that IE has stored.

This will greatly enhance your browsing experience within the Michigan Antiques Directory and any other sites you visit on the Internet -- until your browser's "cache" fills up again.

If your browser still seems to be sluggish1, select the "Delete Cookies" button2 on the above tab.

These two suggestions should speed up your browser considerably. Now you can continue your experience within the Michigan Antiques Directory.

"Cookies" can cause your browser to work to hard while it is searching for the images that you are using currently.

2Be aware that removing your "cookies" may cause you to have to re-enter user names and passwords that you may have previously saved within a "cookie". You will just need to re-enter your user name and password to access these sites once more.
